LE Driving Course

About This Course

During this 3-day course, students reduce their chances of being involved in a collision during a pursuit and develop officer skills in covering pursuits, responding to pursuits and general decision-making in pursuit situations. The course builds upon skills learned in existing basic law enforcement courses and allows students to coordinate vehicle handling skills with mental concentration, anticipation and planning through practical application. The training day incorporates a minimum of classroom instruction with the primary focus placed on in-vehicle practical application using ACADEMI-provided training vehicles. Skills discussed in the classroom are applied on the track using various drills designed to have the student experience multiple weight transfers, corrective skid control measures and the use of multiple traction environments.
